Professional interests:
Shinong's role as a therapist specializing in serving the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) community combines her professional skills with her personal passion. She appreciates the complexity and richness of working within the intersection of mental health and cultural identity. This dual focus offers a continually evolving landscape of understanding, which keeps her work dynamic and deeply fulfilling.

Shinong has a particular interest in exploring the overlap between APIDA identities and neurodiversity. Students who identify with both these groups often confront unique obstacles that tend to be overlooked, which results in an inadequate provision of vital resources and support. It is Shinong's earnest aspiration to raise awareness around a wider range of mental health topics within the community through outreach initiatives and working groups. In collaboration with the dedicated team at Cornell Health, Shinong hopes to work towards nurturing an environment of both inclusivity and hospitality for all students.

Personal interests:
In Shinong's leisure time, she enjoys journaling while listening to her favorite indie rock playlist, playing Japanese chess (also known as “Shogi”), dancing, and bouldering. Although Shinong was born and raised in a concrete jungle and wasn't an outdoors person from the start, her journey with rock climbing, which began last spring, quickly turned into an obsession. She heard from her climber friends that Ithaca boasts breathtaking natural beauty and a plethora of cool climbing spots. Shinong can't wait to check them out!
