Professional interests:
Shinong is a therapist and community liaison dedicated to supporting Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi American (APIDA) students at Cornell, including both international students and domestic students with APIDA heritage. She recognizes that the umbrella term "APIDA" encompasses a vast diversity of cultures, languages, and histories, and that no single person can represent the complexity of these experiences. Honoring that complexity is central to her work: she brings awareness to the ways dominant narratives often flatten or oversimplify students' lived realities, and she approaches each conversation with humility and curiosity, centering students' voices while offering culturally responsive, trauma-informed care through a social justice lens.

Shinong's clinical focus includes helping students navigate a wide range of presenting concerns—from anxiety and depression to the deeper underlying experiences of attachment and relational trauma that often inform these presentations. She creates and holds space for identity exploration and integration. Her clinical specialization centers on the intersection of APIDA identities and neurodiversity, with an emphasis on skill-building, advocacy, and somatic practices that strengthen mind-body connection and nervous system regulation. Her current theoretical orientation integrates narrative therapy, somatic therapy, and existential psychodynamic approaches.

Shinong served on the Gender Services team from 2023–2025 and, beginning Fall 2025, joined the Collaborative Health & Eating Program (CHEP) team, where she provides care related to disordered eating and body image concerns.

Personal interests:
Outside of work, Shinong lives with two cats and a puppy named Soba—since she’s a schnoodle! She enjoys reading, journaling, hiking, bouldering, and camping.
