Professional interests:
Tanya’s experience as an educator led her to a career in social work. Her work with students as a social worker and educator underscored the importance of psychoeducation and empowerment, which are at the heart of her counseling practice. She supports individuals in developing their capacity for self-reflection and personal development, helping them live by their values amidst life’s challenges and to improve their personal and interpersonal skills.
Tanya’s approach to counseling is collaborative, supportive, and experiential, focusing on developing mindfulness, coping skills and values exploration to address stressors. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is foundational to her counseling approach. Additionally, she employes Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) modalities. Her clinical interests include life transitions, academic stress, career concerns, anxiety, grief, loss, interpersonal relationships, chronic pain and illness, cultural identity, social issues, trauma, and substance use.

Outside work, Tanya loves spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys the outdoors, traveling, reading, and listening to podcasts or audiobooks.
