Professional interests:
Qiana enjoys being able to connect with individuals and help them through some of their hardest moments. It brings her great joy to serve. She is particularly interested in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Qiana was not a first gen student but was low income and her college experience very much mirrored the experience of many first generation students - having to complete FAFSA and other important documentation for her mother, who had no idea how to navigate this new college system. Because of this, Qiana is very passionate about the work she does with the first gen/low income population. Her goal is to be as proactive and involved with the community as possible, bringing services and support directly to students in order to decrease barriers and access.
Personal interests:
Outside of work, Qiana is a single mom of two adorable littles, and is a performing arts girl at heart! If she could not be a social worker, she would definitely be a full-time actor! She loves theater, dancing, and singing. She participates in community theater as often as possible and has also dabbled in film, including a horror movie, action thriller and documentary. Last, but certainly not least, Qiana is guided by her faith as a Christian, often promoting that you can have both Jesus and therapy.
