Professional interests:

Nicole, originally from Poughkeepsie and Central Florida, joins Cornell Health from Atlanta, GA where they lived for 16 years practicing clinical social work in various mental health settings including university CAPS, private practice, inpatient mental health, residential drug treatment, and Department of Veteran Affairs. Nicole has 11 years of experience working in college health including at the University of Central Florida, where they obtained their MSW, and Clayton State University (a PBI). Passionate about knowledge exchange and growth, they have provided formal supervision of trainees, clinical supervision/support for mid-licensed staff, and developed and facilitated trainings for clinical and non-clinical staff/trainees on a wide variety of topics. Nicole’s leadership style is that of collaboration, empowerment, and support.

Throughout their career, Nicole has mostly worked with and dedicated themself to advocating for marginalized persons and developed, implemented and supported various LGBTQ+ and BIPOC oriented services, training programming, and advocacy in numerous settings. Nicole’s clinical approach with clients is social justice oriented and heavily influenced by consideration for how systems and societal structures impact/interact with individuals to create barriers, trauma, or support for holistic wellness. In their approach, it is not only important to help the individual build tools for resilience but also vital to address the systems causing unintentional or intentional harm to individuals.

Personal interests:

In their spare time, you can find them outside mountain biking, hiking, SUPing (stand up paddling), gardening, foraging, gardening some more, or spending time with friends.  They have a spirited tortoiseshell colored cat named Jude who adopted them and has been bossing them around ever since.  

Nicole is excited to join the Cornell Health team, and the team is excited they joined!
