Kara Morgan

Social Work Intern

Pronouns: They/them/theirs

Education:

  • Masters in Social Work, Smith College - in progress
  • BA in Political Science and International Affairs, Northeastern University

Professional interests:
Kara's approach centers on the therapeutic relationship, the trust they and the client build together, and recognition of how their experiences are impacted by the systems around them – socioeconomic, racial, and political, among others.

Kara tries their best to meet clients where they are at, to co-create their therapeutic space and work together on their goals, whether developing skills for coping with day to day challenges or taking stock of where clients are and want to go.

Kara works with a lens of Disability Justice and DisCRIT. Kara especially enjoys working with fellow queer, trans, and neurodiverse folks.

Personal interests:
Originally from a suburb in eastern MA, Kara has lived in Colorado, Boston, New Delhi, and beyond. Kara spent the last four years in New York City. Before social work, they worked in journalism, non-profit communications, technical support, and customer service. Kara enjoys going to comedy shows, watching ‘trash’ TV shows, and baking with box mixes. During Kara's weekends, they can be found wandering Ithaca and surrounding trails with their pup, a cattle dog mix named Scoobs.
